Seeing Beyond the Photograph: Hand-Painting Techniques
Workshop Locations: California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia
Would you like to see what more you can call out of your images? Would you like to infuse them with spirit, add texture, turn them into a more personal expression?
Learn some ways that you can do this by hand, with just a few delicate strokes or a complete transformation, with the application of pastels, colored pencils, acrylics or oil paints.
I believe the human hand is a conduit for the unique spirit that lies within every person. Just like your handwriting, you will make marks and choose colors for your prints unlike anyone else.
I’ve been experimenting with color, evolving my techniques for many years. In this workshop, I’ll share what I’ve learned about materials and a workflow. Also, and possibly most importantly, what I’ve learned about seeing beyond the photographic image, and then, how to free the hand to express what is found.
The workshop is comprised of demonstration, discussion, and supervised hands-on practice. No prior experience is necessary to participate.
“The moment one gives close attention to anything, even a blade of grass, it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself”.
Henry Miller
